My Faces RR

I started a new RR with my CQI group in May. It is a DYOB so there are 6 six inch blocks. Each block was to have a face of some sort. The first set of blocks had poly clay faces and were done in a jungle theme. The block I chose made me think of animals peering from the foliage and native rituals. I relly enjoyed trying to express these ideas in my stitching.

Finally--back again!

Ater a year of little stitching due to a bout of the shingles that left me with a problem with my left eye, followed closely with a pinched nerve that led to many sessions of theraphy to regain the use of my left hand, I"M BACK!!!!!

I'm now back to long hours of enjoyment working on my group projects. Although I never stopped stitching completely, many days I was unable to work. I did manage to keep up with the projects I was already commited to, but often I was not happy with the quality of work done. Ladies, if my work for you was lacking in anyway, please forgive me.

Mission accomplished

Decisions, decisions

This was a difficult decision. I received 6 lovely blocks from Lauri in our CQI Under the Sea swap, and I had to choose just one to work on.

This one kept saying "mermaid, mermaid" AND it just happened to be in my favorite colors, so this is IT.

I looked through my stash and a piece of lace kept shouting "PICK ME! PICK ME!" What is a person to do? I added a variety of fibers, beads, and floss to the insistent lace and now I'm good to go on this project tomorrow. Now, how best to do a mermaid?????

I just finished my wall hanging for my Block Buddy group flower themed swap. I bought this fabic because I really like pansies. Then I wondered what I would do with it. No one else does this---RIGHT???

When I saw it and the nice spring green piece, I thought a bowl of these cute little monkey-faced flowers would be pretty. Yes, I think they are! (Even with all the fussy cutting!) I also got brave and decided to finally attempt to use the alphabets on my new machine to make the label. After a few false starts, I got it right. So it is ready to go on its travels. Decisions, decisions

March came in like a lion

March was true to that old saying and came in like a lion with wind gusts of 20-30 mph and short squalls of driving rain. The wind also blew in more winter weather as the temp is once again falling into the 30s. Ahhhhhh! Sewing weather!!

Here are three lovely post cards received from swaps in my landscrape goups. Thanks, Mary T, Miriam G, and Linda. We are having a lot of fun learning about perspective and how the use various fabrics to represent parts of the landscape.

I'm ready to start a wall hanging in Shirley's Learningfa group. It will be fabrics enhanced with thread painting to create a forest scene. Should be very interesting.

I'm involved in an Under the Sea rr in my CQI group. This is the block I hope to change into an underwater wonderland. So, I guess I had better log off and start collecting fishy things to work onto this block. Hope I can do your pretty block justice, Lauri!
