Relaxing week-end

What a lovely Memorial Day weekend! Lots of blue skies and sunshine. I took the weekend off from sewing. I relaxed with two Catherine Coulter FBI thrillers- The Eleventh Hour and Whiplash. Mystery and light-hearted romance--what could be better?

My Tea Time DYOB RR will soon be drawing to a close. These are the blocks that have been finished so far.

This cheerful block is the one I worked for Cathy L.

Lorrie R's  contained a lovely counted cross-stitch tea cup and hankie corner. It was a pleasure to work on.

Cathy K used my favorite colors to form her block so I really enjoyed adding to it.

I added sequin flowers and dim sum to Kerry's block of fancy fabrics.
I am now working on Ritva's green toned block and this RR will be completed.

I'm waiting the next Gypsy Treasure block so I can begin stitching again.

Until next time, hugs and stitches, Pegsue

Back Again

Well, thank the Lord, my brother-in-law has recovered to the point where he can motivate a short distance with his walker, can now feed and dress himself, so Sis and I now have more time for other things.
Now that his children and grandchildren have gone things are back to normal pretty much and I have been back to finishing up the rearranging of my sewing room and back to stitching.

I have begun a new Fairies RR in CQI. The first block was for Lorrie R. I added a button trail, appliqued mushrooms, pixies, an initial, kiko flowers and snowdrops. I'm looking forward to the next round.

This is the first block in the Gypsy Treasures RR.  Lauri B has a lovely silkie which I decided needed embellishing. I used three different colored ribbons as her headscarf, plus used them as a seam treatment in the upper left corner. Lauri likes bling, so I added the silver and gold metallic trim with the golden dangles, a beaded seam and necklace. I have several ideas for the upcoming blocks-such fun!!!!
This is one of six lovely blocks that Nicki put together for the Luscious Lace DYOB RR. I added four different pieces of lace which I embellished with ribbon, sequins, beads and various embroidery stitches.  Eyelash yarn and a charm finish the work.

It is so wonderful to get back to stitching. I have some sewing to catch up on as I have two baby quilts to make two young friends.  I go for an eye exam the 2nd of June. Maybe glasses will made handwork easier and improve the quailty of my work.

Well, it looks as though it's lunch time already, so I will say good-bye for now and say happy stitching, friends.

Quilty hugs to all,

Happy New Year

The beginning of a New Year--and I'm already three months behind.  It's been a couple of months since my last post. The months before Christmas were busy ones--finishing my CQI blocks before the Dec. break, customer alterations, Christmas cards, special orders and finishing my own Christmas gifts.

We had a lovely fall period this year- cool temps, beautiful sunshine.  It really brought out the beauty of my young Golden Raintree. I hope the abnormally cold weather we have had so far this winter has  not killed it. The cold was enough to make one think      they were no longer in FL.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              .

Well, I didn't get much done, but it's a start. Time to start dinner. Hopefully I'll get back in a couple of days.

Till then, have a blessed day.  Hugs and stitches,

This computer tires me out

Yahhhhhhh!!!! I guess maybe you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.  Ater turning 73 Oct. 5, I was beginning to think my mind was finished with operating in this modern world of techknowledgy.  I looked at all the lovely blogs I follow, and thought "Why can't I do that?"  The answer is simple--I know little about computers beyond turning them on, getting my email, and playing a couple of games.

Well, I was wrong!!  After weeks of struggle I have added a new backgound from backgroundfairy.com , and I now have a signature!!!!  from............well, I'll have to let you know later. I think my brain just passed out from all the SUCCESS!!!!  This computer business is tiring stuff!!!

Hugs and stitches,

Past work

I posted Meg's block for the Asian II RR that is circulating now. She wished to have an Arabian theme. Well, what can be more Arabian that a rare, blue-eyed arab barb? I wasn't to sure of how to go about working one as I have not done much fill embroidery. I sketched my design and transfered it to a piece of white fabric. After cutting out the pattern I then basted it to the block. Next was the difficult part! I used long and short stitches to fill, then added a halter and a tassel. I hope Meg is pleased with the results.
I have a friend who has a childcare business and I decided the the Aug. Challenge design from my embroidery group would be enjoyed by her little ones. I embroidered the pumpkin child design, cut it out and stitched it to the fabric background. The embroidery design is from Bettysoriginalembroideries.com.

I've been doing some more projects for my sister. She wanted a gift for her hairdresser. Soooo, with the help of two Loralie ladies, which I cut up and combined to get the figure I wanted, and a scrapbook paper, which I printed on fabric for the background, I came up with the above wallhanging. The figure was appliqued to the backgound and I added the wording with my embroidery machine. I really enjoy the Loralie fabrics and I have a panel with a sewing theme which I am going to use to make a quilt for ME!! Can't wait to begin.

Enough for now, happy stitching,

Good-bye to an old friend

The last few weeks have been hectic. Four friends have been ill, two in the hospital.  Three are on the mend, getting better everyday, thank God.  We said a sad farewell to one, he will be greatly missed.

This is Juli's block from the Faces II DYB RR. It was a lot of fun. I went for an oriental look and used two hand-painted lace motifs for the head-dress and collar, another painted lace motif near the bottom left and a crocheted rose. It's been many months since I crocheted anything- it was enjoyable and I made 6 roses in different colors.  I then added the beading. I really enjoyed beading and I'm looking forward to the beading RR which is soon to begin.  Hugs and stitches,

New blocks

I have received Meg's block for the Asian II RR which is just beginning. She wishes an Arabian theme instead of a Far Eastern theme.I think I shall do the black and print square in the upper left corner. Now I must think Arabian! Hmmmmm!!

This is my block for this RR. I really like things of the Orient. I used a pair of Oriental ladies as my focus point and many of the beautiful oriental prints I have in my stash. It's difficult to think oriental without thinking of fans, so I added one. I'm looking forward to seeing what beautiful things the ladies do with this block.

The second new block I received are Juli's blocks for the Faces II DYB RR. I chose this block and began pulling out beads, lace motifs, threads, etc and now I'm waiting for the creative muse to say what in the heck she wants me to do! I'm sure she'll speak soon-I hope, I hope, I hope!

Quilty hugs til next time, Pegsue
